I never thought that a city whose name, so makes me think of ice-cream, could ever be so scary. I started out early for a walk in Manila with the lovely miss Janine Carreon. The idea was just to go for a walk for half an hour or so. How ever we didn't in our wildest dreams foresee the long perils journey on with we were about to embark.
So we're walking down the road and I was explaining about how the right exhaust on a motor can make or break its performance. We can continue this conversation until Janine said we had been walking for a while and she wanted to turn around and go back to the house now. I said ok but lets walk around the block and go back that way. She agreed with me and we continued our walk "around the block". we turned a couple of corners until we thought to ourselves this is not a block at all. We were however headed in the direction, or so we thought. We walked and walked. It seemed like we had been walking for ever.
We knew we were lost but didn't know what to do, as we had not brought a cell phone on our little exhibition nor did we bring and money with witch to get a cab. You know it seems like sometimes I through all my reasoning skills out the window. So any way we end up walking through some pretty shady neighborhoods and down dark creepy streets to finally make it to the middle of the city.
By this time Janine is pissed and I'm tired and she's tired and her feet hurt and the whole thing is all just going down right CRAPPY! Not the best day we've ever had.
So by now I'm at a total loss as what to do. We sit down on the stairs in front of a high rise condo building to let Janine's and my feet rest for a while. After a few minutes I walked inside to ask the security guard if they had a phone and a phone book we could use. He just told me the shopping center inside the building was closed until 10:00 am. This was not helpful. So the last option I had was to pray and pray and pray that God would give us a Jeepnie driver who knew there the SIL center was and that would give us a ride for free.
So I walked out into the busy main drag in Manila to see if I could maybe get a driver that could even understand me and know where we needed to go. after about 3 different drivers 1 of them said he knew where we needed to go and he would take us free of charge.
I was so happy I couldn't believe it. So we drive a couple of KM and he said here it is, and we said no its not. it turned out he didn't know where we needed to go at all the thought we had said something different.
We go out and once again were on our own feet. I flagged a cab driver and asked him if he know the place where the SIL center was, and explained that we were all out of cash and could not pay him Right now but if he could get us were we were going we could pay him then. He agreed to help us. So we drove and drove all around town until we were in the right part of town. Once we were in the right part of town we could find the right street. we drove in circles for at least 30 minutes. Janine eventually suggested that we should stop at an Internet cafe and see if her dad might be on Facebook. The drive knew just were one was. He took us, we pulled up in the parking lot and of course we were all out of money. The driver knowing this gave us money in order to pay to use the Internet. So we went in and looked for Joey Carreon on Facebook and as our luck would have it he wasn't there. So we sent a message any way to see if he might reply. Then Janine had the great idea, well lets look on Skyp; he said he's always on there. So we looked and again no luck, but just for kicks and giggles Janine sent him a chat message any way. She thought he might just be invisible. We waited for 1 or 2 minutes and POP, up came a message. An overwhelming feeling of relief filled us both. So we got the address and when we showed it to the taxi driver He knew right were it was. After that we were back home again in about 5 minutes. Thank God for the angle taxi man. That was something not expected at all, but threw prayer, God gave us His grace and we were able to get back.
So needless to say We learned a very important lesson about going for walks in a city that we did not know. Take a cell phone, some money for a taxi just in case, and always always know the address of where you are staying.

Why do we waist our time on TV?
You know it's crazy how much time people waist watching TV. We all know that there is nothing on but we still turn it on just to reaffirm our preconceived notions. People spend more time looking at a screen inside so that they can watch someone else do something that they could be doing. Like sports for example, I don't get it. If you're such a die hard spots fan go out side and play for you self. It kills me how people sit there and yell at a TV when someone messes up, as if they can hear you.
One other thing that really get me is how many remotes people have to use in order to use one system. It takes like 5 remotes to use the DVD player it seams a bit ironic if you ask me. I mean I thought the remote was to make things easier, not to confuse people to death. And why do we need HD and 1080P and stupid stuff like that? Really it kills the whole movie watching experience, you can see right threw all the Hollywood magic; it's just no fun that way. I know I speak crazy talk, to not care about TV and what they're doing in the next episode of The Hills or Nip Tuck, but I've never said that I was sane.
